About the Course
This course is for learners who want to deepen their para-counselling skills and build confidence in offering meaningful support and motivating positive change in others. Learners will practise the microskills, including empathic listening, questioning, observation, focusing, reframing, and constructive feedback, with a strong emphasis on drawing out stories and strengths. These skills enable learners to communicate with empathy and apply supportive strategies through a psychoeducational approach.
This course provides a continuation to the Practical Counselling Basic or any other basic counselling equivalent certificate (from other training organisations). It is suitable for learners who want to increase their competency and expand their para-counselling skill set in supporting others.
Pre-requisite: Learners must have completed WSQ-Practical Counselling Basic from AHD or equivalent from other training providers, or have at least 1 year of para-counselling experience.
