Applied Counselling Skills and major in Welfare and Community Work)
is accredited externally by the Australian Institute of Welfare and
Community Workers (AIWCW). The AIWCW has accredited the course to
be delivered at the Academy of Human Development, Singapore.

Students completing this course are strongly encouraged to obtain
membership to this professional body.
The Bachelor of Social Science (Major in Applied Counselling Skills
and major in Welfare and Community Work) is a pathway into the
Master of Social Science (Counselling and Psychotherapy) course.

Bachelor Year One
(Diploma in Counselling Skills):
The first year of the Bachelor degree is the Diploma in
Counselling Skills.
Bachelor Second and Final Year:
The second and final year of the Bachelor degree consists of the

Course Details |
Semester:
Every semester is 4 months and students take 2 units per
semester.Class Frequency:
Units are taught either by local lecturers or ECU overseas
lecturers. If both units in a semester are taught by local
lecturers, classes are as follows:
- Tuesdays (one unit) : 7pm - 10pm
- Thursdays or Fridays (another unit) : 7pm - 10pm
If one of the units in a semester is taught by an overseas
lecturer, classes for that unit will be held over intensive
weekends as follows:
- Friday : 7pm - 10pm
- Saturday and Sunday : 2pm - 9.30pm
Time may vary according to lecturer's schedule.
Attendance Requirement:
80% class attendance for each unit
Course Fee:
Fee for second and final year units will be S$1,200 per unit
(excluding GST). Textbooks and course materials will be
provided.

Entry Requirement |
- Diploma in Counselling Skills (awarded by Edith
Cowan University); or
- Diploma in Family Life Education (awarded by Edith Cowan University); or
- Diploma in counselling related fields from recognised
institutions
